Job Description

[IT Support Engineer ] at A Global Leader in R&D Genomics Services
Responsibilities (maximum 8 key tasks and responsibilities of this position):
⚫ Supports, tests, and troubleshoots the company's network, server, phone and
general IT systems infrastructure including but not limited to:
o Management of Cisco network devices (switches, routers, etc.)
o PBX and IP telephony management
o System and data backup monitoring and troubleshooting
o Active Directory management
o Microsoft Office 365 management
o Assists as local contact for Install/Move/Add/Change requests, including
onboarding of new hires and off‐boarding of separated employees
o Responds in a timely manner to incidents and requests submitted by end‐users
and assigned by management
o Assists with additional IT projects as needed
o Responds in a timely manner to incidents and requests submitted by end‐users
and assigned by management
⚫ Maintenance for in‐house software (ordering system) updates and localization for
Japanese specifications
⚫ Gathers requirements from bioinformaticians, scientists, and internal departments
to configure and deploy cloud, virtual, and physical servers
⚫ Provides Windows and Linux administration on all servers used in development
and production
⚫ Monitors, logs, and resolves issues on servers in development and production
⚫ Develops automation scripts using configuration management and orchestration
tools such as Ansible and Chef
⚫ Leverages containerization and grid technologies to ensure secure, stable, and
scalable pipelines are built and maintained
⚫ Documents installation and operational procedures as well as version control for all
server patches, maintenance, and implementations

Requirements

Qualifications (knowledge, skills, experience, abilities, and other requirements):
⚫ Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology required
⚫ 3+ years’ experience working in a help desk related position preferred
⚫ Able to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic work environment
⚫ Strong oral and written communication skills both in English and in Japanese
(日本語の読み書き能力は JLPT1 級が望ましい)
⚫ Proficiency in Python, Perl or R in a Linux environment
⚫ Understanding of object‐oriented software development and relational databases
