Position Description

Position title: National Sales Director, Japan

Reports to: General Manager, Japan

Reason for the role & position summary

The purpose of this role is to support the growth by providing sustainable strategic and tactical leadership in Japan to achieve sales and financial goals.

The National Sales Director will develop and lead a dynamic team to support a growing business within AB Sciex.

National Sales Director, Japan must have a comprehensive understanding of market and competitive dynamics of the territory and create a Go to market model, sales strategy and manage strategy execution for those territories.

1 Build and lead a sales organization and develop new Go To market model. Specifically, develop hybrid channel structure (direct & indirect). Manage on-boarding, performance of multiply channels and minimize channel conflict.

2 Ensure effective communication, motivational leadership, coaching and performance management of the Sales team. Provide effective leadership of teams in a motivational way and develop talent. Ensure that team have the right tools to reach their goals.

3 Creation and implementation of executable action plan to achieve the quarterly revenue targets across all segments and territories.

4 Provide support to the field sales teams; monitor trends to improve market intelligence. Develop strategies to improve sales in the region.

5 Drive monthly forecasting process to ensure accurate forecasting in Japan.

6 Maintains contacts key customers. Ensure that the regional sales teams develop knowledge of all products within the sphere of responsibility as well as sales soft skills. Works in partnership with internal contacts in support, marketing, order fulfilment to meet planned targets.



 Demonstrable track record of driving sales growth, customer expansion and market share growth in life science instrumentation and consumables, with consistent achievement of targets.

 Experience of successfully managing Japan wide or regional sales team and can demonstrate success in terms of achievement of targets

 Proven track record in building and maintaining a healthy funnel of prospective leads

 Strong financial acumen – able to support budgetary and profitability objectives, with ability to realize these objectives while still winning market share.

 Successful in experience of leading remote sales team and indirect channels; Demonstrated success in effective performance management and talent development.

 Experience with life sciences sales process, from initial approaches to Senior Management to after sales service and support.

 Capability & willingness to work in a matrix organization with direct & indirect reporting relationships
