Product Development Manager - Food -
1. To Lead the product development of our company deliver incremental and profitable innovation, at the same time ensuring the market competitiveness of the existing products.
2. Manage 2 food developers in Japan.
3. Works closely with Marketing, SCM and Sales Trade Marketing functions within Japan and Europe/Middle East region.
4.Leverage the capability of the Regional and Global RN&T function.
-Lead and deliver the product development agenda by utilizing the allocated budget, resource and time. Report the gap when exists.
-Typically 5 to 10 projects in progress.
Roles and Responsibilities
・Lead and deliver the product development agenda by introducing new products, line extensions, packaging innovation, quality improvements and cost optimization projects.
・ Inform and influence all functions to ensure that the project is effectively managed utilizing the our company's standardized process from initial concept to final commercialization.
・Ensures new products, product enhancements, COGS reductions and process changes adhere to quality and safety standards.
・Introduce new ideas of innovation programs to contribute to develop rolling 3-year innovation pipeline addressing changing consumer needs.
・Evaluates marketing plans and identifies scientific / technical opportunities, constraints, risks and cost implications related to food and process development.
・Leverage Regional and Global technical capability to apply the best practices and global trends to Japan innovation programs.
・Keep refreshing the external relationship with the co-man, supplier and experts to bring innovation ahead of the trend in Japan.
・Assures high clarity of the team members’ roles, responsibilities and work expectations to facilitate high effectiveness and satisfaction in the team.
・Provide technical skill coaching for the team members to develop increased capability of the product development team
Minimum 10 years' experience in consumer use (FMCG) product development, preferably packed food.
・A track record of leadership and significant achievement within a major international fast-moving consumer goods company.
・Strong technical and analytical skills, computer literate, lateral thinker, communication, negotiation, business understanding and project management skills
・Excellent written and verbal Japanese and English skills.
• Bachelor Degree in science preferably in Food Science or a related field.
