What were you doing before joining RGF?

After my high school graduation, I moved to the UK alone to become a psychiatrist in a national university hospital in England. As a medical resident there, I did some research and studied medical practices for the complete treatment of depression without relying too much on medicines. At that time, I wanted to let people know about this kind of treatment in Japan so I decided to return to Japan because I also thought it was necessary for me to have some actual work experience there. As I was doing various counseling and medical work, I realized that more than half of the patients suffering from depression had issues with their jobs. I wanted to somehow help in my own way, which is why I decided to go into recruitment. I joined RGF because of the environment. Here, I can use my English ability at full capacity and also meet people with good personalities.

What are you doing now?

I'm currently working as a senior consultant, introducing positions to candidates in the game and entertainment industry. My main job is to reach out to people who are thinking of changing their job, listen to their stories and together, evaluate why they want to change their jobs as well as what they want to attain by doing so. I feel happy when they discover something new about them or when they realize their potential as they share their stories closely with me.

I've been trying my best to be committed to my work objectively ever since I joined RGF in 2016. As a result, I became part of the top 3 Consultants in the entire company (among about 150 employees). Since then, I've been continuously trying to work professionally as a top consultant.

Recently, I'm not only asked for advice about hiring but also about reorganizing the company’s structure or finding good candidates even more frequently. Therefore, I try to keep myself updated about the knowledge of organizations as well as the latest information about the business every day. Although it might seem simple for some to meet people, talk with them, and understand them, but to me, these experiences make me that feel I'm doing the right job every day.

About RGF Professional Recruitment Japan

When I joined RGF, I neither had experience in recruiting nor in the corporate world. But it was an environment where I could easily blend in since the training programs are of good quality. Also, the managers are always aware of how their staff feels, allowing them to lead us accordingly by taking the initiative and setting a good example for us.

Plus, the openness about other people’s opinions and ideas makes it a lot easier to obtain huge support when planning an event or a new project.

I also appreciate this culture where you can work as you want, take responsibility for your actions, and not be judged and limited by your current position as a salesperson or recruiter. You always feel that there is more room for growth.

What do you want to achieve in the future?

By taking advantage of the background I have, I want to be a consultant who can make the best advice and always take the candidates’ sentiments into account first. I also want to brush up my ability as a counselor as I keep listening to the stories of more and more people.

What's unique about RGF?

This is the only company I’ve worked for – and I’m deeply satisfied with that choice. I can say that the company is more open and flexible than the other companies I recruit for. Of course, there are rules and goals as a company, but at the end of the day, having the freedom to decide how you do things is something that I value. However, it’s important to always be methodical and logical when you approach your tasks, which is something that RGF encourages.

In RGF, you are also expected to manage your own schedule and tasks. I think it is quite rare to have this opportunity to have a company trust you with big responsibilities and also have the freedom and discretion to customize your method of accomplishing things – especially for new graduates and new joiners.

Why do you recommend RGF to new graduates?

I joined RGF as a new graduate. At first, it was very hard to catch up with other people, but everyone was willing to help me and teach me how to do my job as long as I stayed proactive. I remember the moment I used up a lot of pages of my notebook when I asked for advice from my supervisors. They have an environment where you’ll have the chance to grow as long as you work proactively. So I think the company will fit you if you’re the type of person who likes to work like this and objectively analyze situations.

One unique point about RGF is that you are unlikely to hear somebody saying “because you are a new grad” or “new grads are XXX” after you join the company. Everyone is understanding, is given fair opportunities, and starts from the same point. RGF has an environment where one is not hindered by hierarchy. If you’re self-motivated, you will love the working culture here.

To succeed at RGF, it is absolutely necessary to have the ability to make suggestions based on facts and research as well as to openly listen to and learn from other people. RGF provides the best working environment for those who are eager to learn these skills, who don't want to be judged as a new graduate and those who want to stand out from other new graduates.
